Don't Bury Your Nose in the Books! Go Back to School With a Stunning Smile
Students of all ages will be entering classrooms this fall, hoping to eventually land the job of their dreams. While education is important, recent research from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) indicates that a great smile can actually improve one’s chances for career success.
Nearly half of American adults (48%) believe that a smile is the most memorable feature after first meeting someone, more so than the first thing a person says (25 percent), according to a survey conducted by Kelton Global for AACD.
The survey also indicated that some respondents view people with crooked or stained teeth as less attractive (37 percent) and less confident (25 percent) than those with perfect teeth.
“Having a beautiful smile can give someone the confidence to ace a job interview, start a new relationship, and so much more,” said Dr. Jack Ringer, AACD Immediate Past President. “A great smile makes you memorable, and helps you project a positive impression.”
Among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures is teeth whitening, which is a quick and easy brightening procedure. In-office and take-home whitening treatments are popular and offered by many cosmetic dentists. The AACD recommends consulting with an AACD member dentist (available in the Find a Dentist Directory on www.aacd.com) to find the most effective whitening treatment.
And to keep teeth white and bright after a treatment, consider these school snack ideas: apples, celery, and broccoli. According to AACD Member Dentist Dr. Frank Milnar, eating fibrous foods can exfoliate teeth and loosen stains.
