Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How to add a Team member to your list. 
A: To ADD a team member not currently on the list above, please email the AACD Executive Office. Please allow 1 business day for that person to appear on this site.  Once a team member has been added to your list, you will be informed via email. You must then return to this web site to register the new person for the meeting at that time.

Q: How to edit your Team member list.
A: To EDIT the name of a team member attending the conference, please email regforms@aacd.com or submit via fax to (608)222-9540.

Q: Is the President's Dinner Dance included in your meeting tuition?
A: The President's Dinner Dance is NOT INCLUDED in your meeting tuition.  You must register for this event under Event Registration or purchase tickets at: http://www.aacd.com/imisconvention/scriptcontent/index.cfm.

Q: Is the Annual Business Meeting a registered event?
A: Yes, you must sign up for the Annual Business meeting, while registering for the main event, or under course registration, be sure to save your changes after you check the box.

Q: Is the opening reception included with my registration? Do I just show up?
A:  You must be sure you mark that you are attending the opening reception; you can do this during the main registration. If you have already registered be sure you review your Itinerary, after you have register be sure you check the box under the Edit Courses.

Q: If course is full can I still be added to the waitlist?
A: Yes, you need to send an email message to regforms@aacd.com with detail on the course number you wish to be added to along with your name.  Wait Lists are limited to ten, or 10% of the maximum attendance, whichever is larger.  An email will be sent to you if you have been added to the waitlist.

Q: How do I know I am in a course I wait listed for?

Q:  If I have registered for a course and it is now full and I want to be removed….
A: Send an email message to regforms@aacd.com with detail on the course number you wish to be removed from with your name, and the course number you wish to be added to during that same time slot.  * If you unregister, you might not be able to register again later. An email will be sent to you if you have been added to the new course number.

Q: How do I register for Give Back a Smile?

A: Once you are registered for the main event the option to register for related events are available.  Log on and click on Pillars of Perfection under Event Registration.

Q; Last year, I tried to register on-line, and checked all the courses, but when I arrived at the conference AACD had no record. What went wrong?
 A: You didn't click "Submit," which is like filling out a paper registration, then forgetting to mail it. On the current, updated form, be sure you click on "Save Your Changes." To be sure you and your staff are registered for all the courses you desire, click on "View my itinerary."  There are separate itineraries for each staff member registered.

Q: How can I be sure I'm registered for the right courses?

Q: How do I register for courses?
A: You must be registered under Event Registration to register for courses.  To be sure you are registered go to your Pillars of Perfection page. If the option Edit Courses is available next to your name begin the course selection process, point your mouse to each date to display available courses. Select one open course per time frame within each date by checking the box. When you have completed selecting your courses be sure to save changes.

Q: The conference hotels are telling me they are sold out some nights. What should I do?
A: We are working to block more rooms at nearby hotels. Large conferences like AACD are booked 5 to 10 years in advance. The individuals who made the decisions then weren’t able to predict current demand. (And we are hoping that we are predicting demand correctly for conferences we are now booking from 2010 to 2014, because if we are wrong, it could cost the Academy hundreds of thousands of dollars in attrition fees). Once we have more news about the hotel situation, we’ll post it on the website and include it in the e-updates.

Q: Many of the hands-on workshops I wanted are already full—why is this?
A: As always, the hands-on workshops fill up first and fast. As you may know, we are limited in size for these by AGD & ADA rules for giving CE credit, which say that hands-on workshops must have a limited student-instructor ratio. Because they are so popular, we've expanded the number of hands-on workshops in recent years, even having them on Tuesday, before the conference officially starts on Wednesday, as an "extra" for those who wish to come early. Also, we used to charge an additional fee for such workshops, but decided to provide them as part of the tuition, even the Tuesday pre-conference workshops. That contributes to demand. Unfortunately, we cannot expand the number of hands-on workshops further this year, because the meeting space simply isn't available. As always, we will continue to try to expand offerings that are desired by our members.

Q: In the past, the President’s Dinner Dance was included with the tuition. Now there’s an extra charge. Why:
A: The challenge was that people signed up for the dinner dance and didn’t come. Over 400 people signed up last year, which meant some people were unable to get tickets, while AACD paid for a lot of meals that no one consumed. So this year, it was decided to lower the price of tuition by $95, and charge $95 for the dinner dance. We assume that folks who pay $95 extra for dinner will attend, giving us a more accurate count. We hope you will decide to attend—it’s going to be a great night.
