Affiliate Committee

There will be open positions beginning in 2016

Recommend “triple win” partnerships among AACD and affiliates (beneficial for members, Affiliates and AACD). Encourage Affiliate participation in AACD strategic plan implementation, as appropriate. Recommend to the Board of Directors changes in Affiliate chartering agreements (name, region served, creation and dissolution). Assist AACD in communicating with affiliate leaders.

Primary Duties
Offer counsel and contribute to improving the AACD-Affiliate relationship, ensuring that the Academy and the Affiliate are both fairly served in a way that benefits members, the Affiliate organization, and the AACD.
Time Requirements
Typically one teleconference per month, plus get-togethers and brainstorming opportunities at the Annual AACD Scientific Session. Committee members sometimes assigned with subcommittee task force work to resolve specific issues.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
  • AACD member
  • Member of a local AACD Affiliate Organization (80% of the committee)
  • A broad understanding of challenges and rewards of working with volunteers to help extend the mission of the Academy into local areas
  • Organizational skills
  • An open mind
  • Creativity
  • Willingness to work as a team to improve the AACD-Affiliate relationship for the benefit of all involved
Length of Term
Two years
minimum of six
(1) ABCD Member and (1) BOD Member
