A Guide to Dental Photography
This photography guide was designed and produced specifically to give
you guidance relating to photographic requirements for an AACD Accreditation
exam presentation. Accreditation by the AACD is a challenging and rewarding
goal and should be considered an incredible learning experience as well.
As you refine your photographic technique, you will also be reviewing
and critiquing your dentistry. The camera enables you to view cases at
tremendous magnification, and this provides you with a valuable tool to
improve your technique.
The photographic requirements are critical since it is primarily through
a slide presentation that a candidate demonstrates their ability to achieve
excellent clinical results. This guide has been limited to the views
required for Accreditation. It may be helpful to have additional views
for a patient's complete record to use for diagnosis, case presentation,
self-critique, legal records or even marketing. The required views, however,
have been carefully chosen to provide an effective overview of each case
as well as ensure consistency in the examination process. For Accreditation
presentation you should only present the required views, except for the
case chosen to be your technique case, which will require the specific
additional views as discussed in the AACD Accreditation Guidelines & Protocol
for Dentists."
